Unfurl your inner devi
Spice Movement x Amma Energy
Sensual liquid fusion × bharatanatyam × embodied storytelling
A 7-week dance and embodiment journey culminating in a live performance at Roots Women’s Embodiment Festival in February 2027.
Spice Princess × Amma Energy have been on a deep journey of exploring and reclaiming their South Asian lineage; rooted in ancient Hindu mythology and history, before the grip of colonisation. We can tell you are curious and humbly invite you to join us on this journey of sensual exploration, storytelling and embodied expression through a unique fusion of sensual liquid movement and Bharatanatyam-inspired dance.
Over seven weeks, we’ll learn movement techniques and original choreography while exploring the many expressions of Devi — the divine feminine: sensual, powerful, playful, tender, fierce and expansive.
we promise you though, that this is way more than just a dance course...
Alongside choreography and performance training, we’ll explore practices designed to deepen our relationship with our bodies and the stories we carry. We will draw from yoga, Devi traditions and storytelling, alongside special rituals including mirror work, belly worship and a yoni steam ceremony.
Together, we’ll explore how to reclaim sensuality, decolonise the ways we have been taught to see our bodies, and unfurl into fuller expressions of our true, powerful ourselves.
❋ Intentional structureWe will blend guided moments, self exploration, and space to reflect, so the experience feels both focused and fluid.
❋ Who can apply BIPOC dancers will be prioritised. There are only 10 spaces available. Allies are welcome to apply. Best suited for those with some movement experience. Beginner - intermediate, no advanced training required.
❋ Expert facilitationLed by experienced teachers and performers who know how to hold space, encourage participation, and keep things moving with purpose.
❋ A cosy, welcoming spaceOur events prioritize safety, and respect so you can show up as you are each day and fully engage in the process.

About Roots
Suhaniya and Angalie met through embodied dance and women’s festivals.
Since 2023, we have been on this journey together of growth, self-development and sharing our unique perspectives as BIPOC women in these spiritual spaces. This performance cohort is a culmination of individual self work and empowerment of each other and our communities and is a manifestation of how embodied communication and education can lead to meaningful change.
Roots was a big initiator in our journeys together and individually along this path of power.
Roots is a 3-day, retreat-style women's festival and a space to reclaim your rhythm, expression, and embodied truth. There will be a tapestry of workshops, movement, sound, ritual, and rest, where you’re invited to explore the language of your feminine spirit in its raw, unfiltered form. Roots is a space for expression, embodied truth, and village-based sisterhood, where nothing needs to be fixed, performed, or hidden.
